Family Man
I just finished watching TV and one reality show inspired me to write this. I was so moved that I got carried away and didn’t noticed my tears fell as I watched. I was so touched with this man’s love towards his family. Everyday he walks far, roam around the city pushing his old “cariton” loaded with Chinese-Filipino corn while he sings his piece in the tune of “halleluiah” by bamboo to attract passersby and buy his corn. Despite of the heat and the very tiring job, he never fails to cheer other people. His selling chant will surely leave a trace of smile on your lips.
He is a very vigorous man and full of life. He is all worn out at the end of the day, however his 2 small children and his loving wife wipes away that feeling and they are the reason why he keeps going. A lot of people don’t know the pain behind those lively chants and warm smiles. His 2 year old son is suffering of an illness which
if not treated early could lead to loosing him at a very tender age. Their status in life may cause this worst scenario. His wishes are simple, first, having his son checked by doctors and second to make his everyday job a bit easier.
God is so good to him that his wishes were granted! Of course through that TV program. His son was finally checked and was advised for immediate operation. When he handed his son to the doctors for operation, that was when I was so touched, he was kissing and hugging his little son while his tears were falling. Thinking of all the needles that will thrust into his son’s very young body, he feared his son might not make it. The operation lasted for 45 minutes which he and his wife thought took forever. Their son was safe. Agony was over. His smile is back. After the operation an extra bunos was given to his wife.
A scholarship grant courtesy of STI for her to finish her nursing degree and help her husband later on. That was not all!! Another surprise for him was a sidecar to makehis Chinese – Filipino Corn selling less tiresome. He again cried, that was what he wanted all his life, he didn’t want to be rich, he just want to live his life making sure that he feeds his family everyday and making sure he gives brighter future to his children.
He was so happy…His tears were so genuine that it came straight to my heart. It flowed like crystal waters and as I look at him, I came to a wish that may all Fathers in the world are as dependable, loving and loyal as this man whose love for his family is boundless. He now again smiles thanking the Lord God for His goodness.
I thought those were well deserved blessings for a hardworking and dedicated man like him.
