You combed or brushed your hair and these scales from your scalp fell like snowflakes settling on your eye brows, shoulder and clothes. You can’t scratch your scalp too because they fall as if it’s Christmas time already! Now you can’t even wear black as it’s making the situation more embarrassing. That’s how annoying dandruff is! The scales sometimes even appear as lumps or crusts on the scalp! That’s bothersome.

Many people suffer from persistent or recurring dandruff, also known as seborrheic dermatitis. The main causes of having this are the Impairment of general health, development of toxic condition mainly due to taking of wrong foods. Sugar is one of the biggest diet culprits that can make your scalp flake. But it’s not just sugar from the places you would expect, like candy, sodas or the molasses and syrups you put on your pancakes. Sugar can be masked under a variety of names and in products you wouldn’t even think of. Check labels for the following names which signal sugar content: corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, fructose, glucose, lactose, maltose and sorghum. Also, lessening up the yeast content of your diet helps, since most cases of dandruff is a result of a yeast imbalance on your scalp. This means limiting baked goods, beer, wine and alcohol.

A 5 day all fruit diet is recommended. Take three meals a day of juicy fruits. However, AVOID Citrus fruits, bananas, dried , stewed or tinned fruits.

Avoid strong tea/coffee, pickles, refined and processed foods. Meats, sugar, white flour and condiments.

Most people turn to shampoos for relief. Well bad news! Other factor contributing to this scalp condition are harsh shampoos too. Recently, shampoo manufacturers have been paying much more attention to the scent of such products, and they can now be found in a variety of scents, with many even having conditioner to help add sheen to your locks. The key to the shampoos is to make sure they have ZPT (zinc pyrithione) in them. This is the active ingredient that will ensure treatment of your scalp. . Emotional tension, exposure to cold and general exhaustion is also contributors.

Your beauty regimen may be what is causing your flaking, as well. Changes in climate can set a case of dandruff off.

a. Hair Blow-drying – this is a change in climate, although a temporary one. But it can still dry out your scalp and make you itch. To avoid this, keep your blow dryer as far away from the scalp as possible, preferably 8-10 inches.

b. Hot water you use in the shower – The water can strip your scalp of natural oils needed to protect it from flaking. Using a conditioner and rinsing it out with cold water can help avoid this. The added benefit is that this closes hair shafts, adding extra shine to your mane.

c. Avoiding gels and hair sprays that contain alcohol will also help, since alcohol can also dry out your scalp

Natural and homemade remedies abound for a pesky case of dandruff. One of the cheapest and most common is to mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with two cups of hot water and massaging it into your scalp, or using it to rinse out your dandruff shampoo. The smell of the vinegar fades quite quickly, if you are worried about odors. Vitamin E oil rubbed into the scalp then rinsed with cool water can help with the itching. Instead of buying a bottle of oil, you can squeeze some out of the caplets you may already have at home in your medicine chest. Speaking of oils, aloe Vera oil left on the scalp overnight is a great way to get rid of flaking. A spray bottle with one tablespoon of Australian tea tree oil (found in health food stores and many supermarkets now) and one cup of water can be spritzed right onto the scalp and left in until you shower. A strongly-brewed cup of black tea used to rinse out your shampoo will help, too. But beware! This can temporarily tint your hair, so blondes and red heads would not be advised to try this treatment.

The use of a teaspoon of fresh lime juice for the last rinse, while washing the hair, is another useful remedy. This not only leaves the hair glowing but also removes stickiness and prevents dandruff.

The foremost consideration in the treatment of this disorder is to keep the hair and scalp clean so as to minimize the accumulation of Dead Cells.

If any of these treatments do not give you a noticeable improvement within a week to ten days, then you may have more than a simple case of dandruff. If the flakes on your scalp are oilier and/or resemble scales, then you could very well have a case of seborrhea or psoriasis. Though some of the stronger, tar shampoos claim to help with this, in these cases, it is advisable to see a doctor. A dermatologist can prescribe certain shampoos or medicines that can clear up these conditions better than anything sold over-the-counter.

Face powder either pressed or loose gives glow as well as smooth look to the skin. Women with oily skin benefits most with face powder application as it conceals the oily look of the skin and makes your skin look perfect. It is used because it is the quickest and easiest way to cover up blemishes. Whether you use face powder to conceal skin oiliness or just to look fresh is not a question. The question now is how to choose the right face powder that suits you best?

It is important to choose face powder that suits your skin tone. Use a face powder that is 1 tone lighter than your skin. Personally it took me sometime to finally stick on one brand as looking for the right face powder that blends my skin and complexion is quite challenging. I went through hit or miss stage in choosing the right powder for me.

To help you decide, consider the following in choosing your face powder.

1. Your complexion – If your face powder isn’t the right shade for your face, it will look like you have dirt smudged on your face. You will likely have some hit or miss in finding the right shade, but in trying to figure out what shade you are, first consider, are you fair, medium, or dark skinned? That will winnow the choices down somewhat. From there, look at the undertone in your skin. Is it pink, peachy, or olive? In any given line of powders, you will probably end up with just two to decide between if you know those two aspects of your skin tone.

*** When picking your color, keep these tips in mind. White powder is best for the evening, since it adds luminosity. If your complexion is sallow, try a mauve or violet tone. Green and blue will tone down colors, pink gives a nice glow for pale skin and apricot works for olive skin that needs to some brightness.

2) Find the right consistency. Some powders, are incredibly finely milled. They go on lightly and don’t settle into wrinkles or dry spots. They can also be somewhat more expensive than drugstore varieties, so assess if you prefer a finer powder than what you find in the drugstore for the price differential. A very good mid-price range powder can be found in the MAC makeup line. I use Loreal True Match. There are a lot of choices too – there is a powder if you just want to control shine, one if you want to add a slight glow to your skin, mineral powders for more foundation-like coverage, sheer, and translucent powders.

3) Decide if you want to use pressed or loose powder. Pressed is obviously best for popping in your purse, and imparts more coverage. However, if you are looking for a light, refining look, use loose powder.

4) Always test before you buy! Spend wisely by testing the product before bringing it to the counter.

How to Apply Face Powder

Apply your face powder after your foundation if you are wearing any, and before putting on your eye makeup. Make sure not to miss any spots – including your lips and eyes.

Make sure that you blend, blend, blend! Apply powder to your neck, and make sure that you don’t have the defined line that screams “I’m wearing foundation!”. Looking natural will enhance the beauty that is your own. In addition to your neck, make sure that you get your hairline, and even your ears if necessary.

Cleanliness is vital when applying your face powder. Not only should you apply makeup to a clean face, but make sure to use a clean brush or applicator. Change your brush or applicator as often as necessary so that the oil and dirt from your face doesn’t get trapped in the bristles or the sponge. This can lead to clogged pores, and eventually irritation and infection.

Why I use Loreal True Match Pressed Powder

I love how this face powder blends into my skin naturally. Make one’s skin becomes fresh, flawless, but most of all, natural-looking, thanks to its Opti-Blend and Opti-Match technology, which essentially matches one’s skin tone and texture. Imagine a formulation that mimics the skin texture to make it smooth, even, and true to tone. I have a medium skin tone and I’ve been using Sand Beige / Beige Sable and Natural Beige.

Chapped lips - is a condition whereby the lips become dry and possibly cracked. It may be caused by the evaporation of moisture. Often the lips become dry because the layer of oil that is naturally produced by the body to coat the lips is removed or is lacking.

Lips have almost no melanin, the natural pigment in skin that helps screen out the sun’s harmful rays. Your lips’ natural tendency toward dryness and chapping is aggravated by the fact that they are more prominent than almost any other part of your body–and most of the time they are unprotected by clothing and fully exposed to the elements. While exposure to sun, wind and cold can obviously speed the rate of moisture loss, your lips aren’t even safe indoors. They can suffer from lack of moisture in centrally heated or air-conditioned rooms in which the relative humidity is low.

The Cure:

The simplest and natural remedy for chapped lip is consumption of adequate water and liquids so the hydration level of body is properly maintained.

Regular application of petroleum jelly on the lips helps also in curing the dryness. Take note that is the dryness of the lips is prevented then it would prevent also lip chapping. It is recommended to put on Petroleum Jelly during bedtime.

Rose Petal in Milk – soak a rose petal in milk and then mesh these this milk soaked rose petal to produce a smooth paste. This method restores the normal smoothness of lips with a bonus gift of natural redness of the lips.

Rub unto lips fresh juice from a cucumber slice. Retain the extract on lips for at least an hour.

Aloe Vera Gel – regular application of this is an effective and efficient herbal remedy to cure chapped lips. Smear fine layer of Aloe Vera gel on lips regularly two times a day to treat the cracked lip.

Sunscreen Lip Balm – if your lips have the most tendency to chap, use a sunscreen lotion based lip balm when exposed to sunlight to provide protection from sun dryness which ultimately cause chapped lips.

Cheap Lipstick – be practical but always go for quality and ingredients of the lipstick you are using. Cheap ingredients of lipstick may impose dryness and roughness on lips.

We also recommend regular lip exfoliation by dry brushing them with a very soft toothbrush or washcloth to eliminate roughness and plump up lips.

Most importantly, stop sucking or licking your lips. According to Dr. Elsenberg of University of Connecticut Health Center,the over-wetting with saliva of the outer lips due to chronic lip licking can actually lead to harmful dryness or even infection of the lips, with peeling, cracking and discomfort. Chapped lips are exposed to the risk of sunburn too.

One of the greatest fun spoiler, poise wrecker and beauty killer is when ladies is experiencing a terrible TOOTHACHE. Oh yes! I can definitely relate to that! Having a toothache is excruciating, painful and a complete torture! It takes over your life at its worst!

Here are few home remedies that will help alleviate the pain.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #1:Ice

=========================================================================================
Ice can eliminate all kinds of pain and swelling in the mouth, just as it can help strains or sprains. You can use either ice cubes that are wrapped in a towel or wash cloth or you can use frozen food. If you use food, smaller items like peas are more ‘bendable’ and therefore adaptable to a painful toothache. Hold the cold substance directly against the tooth area that hurts. Just remember that if the food thaws you should either eat it or throw it away – don’t refreeze it. That’s a major no-no.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #2: Peeled Cucumber
================================================================================================
Get a peeled cucumber and then cut it into thick slices and hold these pieces in your mouth. You would feel that the pain is gone.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #3: Salt
================================================================================================
Warm salt water can work well for toothache, especially if there is some kind of bacteria or infection. Don’t believe it? Take a sore and go swimming in the ocean for a while and see what happens. Make sure the water is warm and VERY salty and swirl it around your mouth. You can repeat this frequently because it definitely helps your mouth in every possible way. You probably don’t want to swallow it, though.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #4: asafetida, lemon juice water
===============================================================================================
Mix ½ tsp of asafetida with lemon juice and lukewarm water and make it a paste. Now apply it on the affected area. You should use cotton to apply the paste to the sore area of your tooth.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #5: Tea Tree Oil
===============================================================================================
Tea tree oil is a natural oil from Australia that is very effective in killing bacteria and alleviating pain. You can mix it with water or put it directly or any painful or injured area. The direct approach is tougher to bear, but definitely more effective.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #6: Dried Peppermint
=================================================================================================
You can put a small stack of dried peppermint inside your mouth and around the sore tooth. You will need to keep it there for nearly 20 minutes and then spit it out. This will help to ease your pain.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #7: Clove
==================================================================================================
A favorite spice in my house is cloves. My kids love them in pumpkin pie and they’re great in an apple recipe, but they’re also famous as a natural remedy for toothache. Some older herbal books recommend chewing on whole cloves, but just the thought of that when I have a toothache gives me the shudders. Instead, go to a drugstore or discount store like WalMart and find some oil of cloves. Put a few drops of this oil on a cotton ball and hold it against your sore gum and tooth.

Home Remedy For A Toothache #8:
================================================================================================
This is by far the most powerful method … it involves a substance called Campho-Phonique, which is available in any drugstore or pharmacy and is very cheap. I’ve used it all my life for painful areas. It is especially effective in the mouth since the mouth is hard to heal due to the constant dampness. Just put a couple of drops of Campho-Phonique on a cotton ball and be prepared for an effective cure for toothache. It won’t fix your tooth, of course, but it will eliminate the pain. Warning: it tastes pretty bad – but it certainly won’t hurt you. It’s up to you to decide which is worse: a short term bad taste or pain. Your call.

These natural home remedies may work great for you or may not, depending on the severity of the pain. We don’t want to suffer and endure the pain while we are at it, so this are all worth trying. But remember, the always best remedy is to visit your dentist and have that throbbing teeth checked.

One of the many decision every women has to make is choosing the shade of lipstick to wear whether for a party or for everyday use. Well, I share the same sentiment! And yes up until now I can’t really stay loyal to one product or shade.

Check this top 6 tips in picking the best lipstick for you.

1. Thin lips
Colors to Try: Peach, pale pink, light beige, clear
Colors to Avoid: Red, dark red, dark purple, any shade of brown

If you have thin lips it’s better to avoid dark and bright colors and settle for softer, natural sheer ones. Start with outlining your lips with a lip pencil that’s close to the natural color of your lips and then fill them in with light pink or light coral or beige lipgloss. Try using Lip Plumping glosses to make your lips so much fuller.

2. Full lips
Colors to Try: Red, soft pink, berry, mauve
Colors to Avoid: None

With full lips, you have quite a few options. Obviously you don’t need plumping glosses, instead apply a small amount of clear gloss to the middle of your top lip for the same affect. I have naturally full lips, and find that I don’t need lip liner, and rose colours look the most amazing!

3. Daytime wear
Colors to Try: Pink, peach, berry, beige
Colors to Avoid: Anything too dark, as you will risk to look like a vampire

Your daytime look should be casual, so stick to sheer glosses or light colors, and simple eye makeup. If you are going somewhere special, glam up your daytime look with a bit more color on your lips – the right shades of pink and beige compliment everyone!

4. Night time colors
Colors to Try: Bright red, bright pink, mauve, beige
Colors to Avoid: None! Perfect time to Experiment!

Night time is the best time to glam it up, so dig out your browns, pillarbox reds and bright pinks. Remember that you should keep your eyes neutral if you wear a bright lipstick, and put some lipseal on to ensure that your colour lasts the distance.

5. For Teenagers
Colors to Try: Pink, peach, clear
Colors to Avoid: Anything too dark

Looking good is important when you’re a teenager, but it can be hard to get it right. To start with, avoid lip liner if you can. Instead, invest in a lipstick that comes with a lip liner, as these are sure to match up. Stick to peach for school days, and pink for casual. Find a colour that suits you, and that you love, and wear it with a smile!

6. Women in 20s
Colors to Try: Gold, fuchsia, berry, bright red
Colors to Avoid: N/A

Warm colours will show your youth, so make the most of it! Choose sophisticated golden tones for work and brighter fuchsia for night times. Try topping up the colour with a little glitter for instant sex appeal after work.

Achieving the perfect smokey eyes doesn’t mean you have to look like you have two black holes in a bed sheet. It means there are no harsh lines and that everything is very blended and beautiful. It’s very modern to do a smokey eye in pretty soft colors, especially for summer. Nix the eyeliner completely; use a deeper shade of the color shadow all around the lash line. Also, lighten up that tarantula mascara—go for a very feathery, fluffy lash look.”

They make us look ill and lethargic. Concealing them is quite challenging and even harder to get rid of. There are many factors that causes the discoloration around that area.

Well, if you have them, don’t despair! There are ways to prevent them from invading your beautiful looks! Read further and identify what is causing those dark circles and find out how to prevent them.

1. Get a Good night’s Sleep every night – Insufficient sleep causes the skin to become paler as it reduces circulation, increasing darkness under the eyes. This is the most common cause of dark circles. Note that we need 7-9 hours of sleep each night.

2. Treat your eyes to a home-made spa treatment – Relax, lie down and apply cool tea-bags or cucumber slices to your eyes for 10 minutes each morning. The tannin in tea reduces discoloration and the cucumber reduces puffiness, so these treatments refresh the skin around your eyes preventing darkness.

3. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and drink lots of water – dark circles can be caused by lack of Vitamin K or B12. Eat good amount of fruit and vegetables. Eating healthy is always the overall answer for any health deficiencies.

4. Drink water by the gallon – I’m sure you have heard of this many times already. True, this is really essential to our bodies. Drinking sufficient amount of water helps hydrate skin thus making it radiant.

5. Give up Smoking - having dark eye circles is just a mild effect of smoking if we come to think of it. There are more serious effects of smoking to worry about. It depletes the body of vitamin C so if you must smoke take a supplement to replace this loss. It causes aging and blood vessels to appear bluer under the skin therefore contributing to dark circles.

If you don’t smoke, avoid secondary smoke.

6. Don’t stay under the sun too much – The sun contains many harmful rays that can harm your skin, cause wrinkles and skin aging. This will contribute to the appearance of dark circles under your eyes so it is best to wear sunglasses while you are exposed to the sun and use a sunscreen of SPF 30 or more.

7. De-stress – Find time to relax, have some activities that will help you relax. You can lie down by the pool with cucumber in both eyes while listening to your favorite music. If you are feeling stressed on the inside it is more than likely to show on the outside. Reducing stress is essential in the prevention of dark under-eye circles.

8. Reduce Salt Intake – If your diet contains a lot of salt you may suffer from fluid retention which is a major cause of dark circles under the eyes. If you think this could be the problem try cutting out raw salt and check food labels for excess hidden salt. Dark circles are commonly caused by our lifestyle or neglecting our diet, however there is also a chance it could be hereditary.

So I confess! Pink is my favorite color! Yes, yes and yes! I am a certified pink color lover. But wait! does that mean everything I have to wear should go ALL pink? No, no! of course not! Pink looks great on almost everyone, but head-to-toe cotton candy hues can overwhelm even the girliest girl.

Please take this advise if you want to look good in your favorite color.

Do’s

* Do pair pink with a neutral shade that grounds it without overwhelming it: white, cream, chocolate, khaki and denim.
* Do wear mid-range pinks like cotton candy with white.
* Do mix soft blush pinks with cream or khaki.
* Do go bold with combos like hot pink and grass green for preppy freshness.

Dont`s

* Don’t pair icy pastels together like pink and baby blue. Too cutesy.
* Don’t wear hot pink with black: it looks dated. Use white or even khaki as a fresher foil for your pink.

More Tips in Wearing Pink

- BABY PINK-Soft, pale shades convey innocence and a youthful outlook. Wear this when you want to be pampered (or feel like it, anyway) as well as when you want to calm down.

- MEDIUM PINK-MIddle-range shades make a strong yet feminine statement that’s perfect for the office and business. They send out a confident signal.

- DEEP HOT PINK (Or SHOCKING)-You’re a risk taker, have a whimsical spirit, and are fun loving. Wear this for an evening out or whenever you want to boost your energy level. And you have a sensual side!

- If you like wearing Chocolate Or Other Deep Brown Shades, pair it with POWDER PINK.

– If you like Gray, pair it with Mauve. PLEASE NOTE: Wear the pink on top, the other color on the bottom, for the most slimming and complexion-enhancing effect.

A little trivia for you all pink lovers out there.

Did you know that wearing the color pink or even being in a pink room can make you feel better? The next time you’re sluggish and dragging around, wrap yourself in a pink blanket; perked up a little, didn’t you? It’s all because this lighter shade of red gently stimulates your adrenals (glands seated on top of the kidneys; they regulate stress) AND improves circulation, making you feel more energized (Now don’t go and wrap yourself in red-It’ll overstimulate you!). A pink-colored room, particularly a pastel or soft pink, has a positive and flattering effect. Not only you will feel good, but you’ll look good, too; Pink is a flattering shade for most complexions!

Stress Control has become the need of the hour. Everyone today is stressed in some way or another.Stress can be kept under control and that is what everyone should learn. There are countless reasons that reducing stress is critical for good health. When you’re stressed you’re much more susceptible to illness, and high stress over an extended period of time has been proved to spur ailments like heart disease, high blood pressure, migraines, muscle tension, insomnia, and ulcers. If we’re not ill, we’re definitely irritable, snappy, agitated, and not much fun to be around.

Stress management poises a person to face his challenges in better manner than what he actually does. The following tips are key to managing stress:

1. SMILE (OR LAUGH): Give yourself a happy break. Just like whistling a happy tune, smile to fake a happy mood. Smiling sends a message to your unconscious mind and automatically generates a positive mood and attitude. If you fake happiness long enough, you might just start to believe that it’s true. If that isn’t working, pick up the paper for today’s comic strip or watch a 5-minute funny video on You Tube.

2. BREATHE: Stop, Drop, and Breathe. Okay, maybe not “drop”, but definitely stop and breathe. When we’re uptight or straining ourselves we usually forget to do this. Start by taking a few deep breaths. Next, give this pranayama technique a try: 1) Inhale deeply. 2) Hold your breath for 4 seconds. 3) Exhale for count of 4 seconds. 4) Repeat. Continue this pattern for about one minute.

3. TIGHTEN AND RELEASE: Lie flat on the floor. Starting with the feet: tighten and squeeze your feet as much as you can. Then move upward, tense and relax the ankles, calves, knees, thighs and entire body one by one. When you get to your head, lift the head off the ground and squeeze all the muscles of your face. Lie quietly for a minute afterward, noticing the change in your body and basking in the calm.

4. MOVE: Sometimes stress is so habitual that we have to literally shake it off. Stand up, extend your arms out and imagine that you’re a soggy wet dog and give yourself a good shake. If a good wiggle doesn’t work for you, go for a short walk and take in your surroundings.

5. VISUALIZATION/MEDITATION: Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Imagine a bright red rose in front of you. Notice the vibrant petals, its color and its texture. See this rose clearly in your minds eye. Take another deep breath and smell the rose. Savor its scent and let it fill your body. Slowly open your eyes. Keep your eyes soft for just a minute longer, lingering on the beautiful rose.
