Let’s talk Tech – Setting up a Router
Let’s get a bit techy .. hehehe .. Here’s how to configure linksys router.
Reset router by pressing the reset button at the back (make sure router is powered up), release the reset button and unplug the power cord from the back of the router and then re-plug it back in.
1. Connect Cable Modem to the INTERNET port of the router and wired computers to the regular ports.
2. Perform a complete power cycle. Turn off Modem, Router and Computers and turn them back on after a minute in the same order. Check the Internet.
3. If you’re still unable to get online, go to your computer (make sure that’s the computer that can go online directly to the modem). Launch a browser and on the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 and hit the enter key.
4. On the logon window, leave the username and password is admin unless you have changed that. Just underneath the Setup tab, look for MAC Address Clone. Enable it and click on Clone my PCs MAC. Save the settings.
5. Go to the wireless tab and personalize your SSID. Save the settings. If you want to have a security for your wireless network, click on WIRELESS SECURITY and select the type of security you want to use, make sure you copy your key or passphrase for you to use later on in your wireless computer.
6. Go to the STATUS tab and check if you get Public IP address (e.g. 68.12.238.25). Check for Internet in your desktop. If you’re not online, do the complete powercycle ones again (step 3). Check the Internet again.
DSL Connection
1. Connect the PC to the port one of the router and the modem to the Internet port or WAN port of the router. (This PC should be the one that can get online if directly connected to the modem).
2. Go to your desktop and double click on Internet Explorer (Located on the Start Menu in Windows XP). When “Internet Explorer” opens type http://192.168.1.1 into the “Address” bar and click on Go.
3. Then a log-in window will appear. Skip user name and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password, and click OK.
4. Go back to the “Basic Setup” tab and set the “Internet Connection Type” to PPPoE.
5. Enter your username and password given by the Internet Service Provider (in email format. Example: user@isp.net) and save settings.
6. Click on WIRELESS tab and change the SSID from linksys to anything personal then save the settings. Note that, that will be your wireless name.
7. Go to the STATUS tab check if the status is connected. If not, click on connect. If you have the message that says “Cannot get an IP from PPPoE Server” or “Unable to connect to PPPoE Server” please proceed to step 11. If you are connected, you are good to go already, you may stop here and check your Internet. If not, proceed to number 9.
8. Click on the SETUP tab and click on MAC Address Clone sub tab and click on “Clone your PC’s MAC” then save the settings.
9. “Basic Setup” tab and change the Internet Connection type to Automatic Configuration DHCP and then save the settings.
10. Look for the LAN IP which is 192.168.1.1 and change it to 192.168.2.1 and save the settings.
11. Turn off all the devices for two minutes ( the modem, the Linksys router and the computer)
12. Finally, power them back on. (Starting from the modem then the router and lastly your PC).
That’s it. Hope that helps!!!
Sleepless
Yesterday after arriving from work at around 8:00 o’clock in the morning I thought I was sleepy. I didn’t go to bed right away since I had to take my breakfast first before going for my day sleep instead of a night sleep. So after breakfast I rested for a while and watched television and when I thought I am ready to go to sleep, I went right straight to my bed and tried to close my eyes.
Much to my dismay I was unable to sleep after about 2 hours of laying on my back, my belly, my side… my all! Gosh! I don’t understand what the heck happened to me. It’s been more than a month now since I worked in the graveyard shift. I had to suffer the consequence of working at night and sleep during the daytime while the rest of the people in my side of the world are wide awake and living! Just imagine in a week I have 2 days off, so that means I have to sleep at night during those days and then after those 2 days, I have to be awake again at night to work and sleep in daytime!! That is for 5 days! Now tell me, whose body clock will not be confused with that? I think that is what’s happening to me now.
I tried every attempt just to be able to sleep. I was desperate! I didn’t want to spend my time at work yawning because I lacked sleep. I thought reading would help… it always does before.. So I pulled out my still covered and unread book by Daniele Steel entitled “The Full Circle”, quite a good story! It touched me, the characters felt so real… now why the hell did I know much of the story? Well guess what?! I almost finished the book already! And yet I am still wide awake… my body just won’t give up and rest, my mind just don’t stop and get blank for a while and my eyes closes but it really won’t rest! I almost panicked! I didn’t want to be late at work just because I lack so much sleep.
After 6 hours now of lying in bed, I am still wide awake! Eyes closed but wide awake! I was raged! Why would myself do this to me!? Please I need to get some sleep… then a very very loud thunder and lighting woke up my senses… that sounded terrifying as if the heavens went along with my rage! Maybe I had to thank that seemed to be undending thunderstorm, frightening lightning and on and off heavy rains!! Because of it all I was able to fall asleep… not that much time but I am still thankful I was able to sleep after all.
Yey!! I won!!
How normal are you?
I just woke up and I still feel dizzy. What in the world am I thinking taking this normality test amidst of feeling like I just went through a roller coaster!! Just when I thought I couldn’t think clearly! Well.. here is my result, normal eh? LOL!
You Are 75% Normal
Otherwise known as the normal amount of normal
You’re like most people most of the time
But you’ve got those quirks that make you endearing
You’re unique, yes… but not frighteningly so!
